The SEAI solar grant is offered to homeowners for their private residences. This grant can lower the cost of installing a solar PV system by up to €2,100, making solar energy a more accessible option for many families in Ireland.

Get government funding assistance for installing solar PV systems in your business, farm, school, community center, or other non-profit organisation.

Non-domestic microgen grant

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) offers financial support to businesses and other sectors to install solar PV panels for on-site electricity generation.

This technology helps lower commercial electricity expenses, improves supply security, and promotes a strong sustainability image. Grant funding is available for systems with a capacity of up to 1000kWp.

2024 Rates:

The grant amount you receive depends on the standard output of your solar PV system. Systems with an output of up to 1000kWp are eligible for grant funding under the scheme.

If your installed system exceeds 1000kWp, you can apply for the maximum grant of €162,600*, which is available for systems ranging from 1kWp to a maximum of 1000kWp.

How to apply

1. Appoint a Registered SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen (Solar PV) Company

Before you apply for your grant, you must choose your preferred company and agree a formal contract with them for the agreed work.

2. Apply to SEAI for a Grant Offer

Wait for your "Letter of offer" before commencing any works.

3. Your installer applies to ESB Networks

This must be done before installing the Solar PV system. This process can take at least 4-6 weeks.

4. Your installer installs the Solar PV system

Once your connection to ESB has been approved, the installation can go ahead.

5. Your company submits evidence of works to SEAI

Your solar PV company will give you the documentation relating to your installation & submit copies to SEAI electronically.

SEAI process the Grant Offer

Allow 4-6 weeks for payment, with additional time if an inspection is required.
